Terms and conditions for the use of Innovation Norway's photo and film bank

1. Guidelines for the use of images

The photographs are to be used in marketing and sale of Norway as a tourism destination, or to create interest in, and build the reputation of Norway as a tourism destination.

The photographer and Visitnorway.com must be credited. The credit can be placed on the photograph itself, directly under it somewhere else in the publication. Crediting can be done by using the mouse-over function on websites and in applications if this is more expedient.

If the photographs contain/reproduce works of art or other copyright works, the user is responsible for clearing the rights with the copyright holder/BONO.

Innovation Norway accepts no liability for the artist's copyright.


Changes can be made in the form of cropping of the photographs. However, in cases where the photos show crowds of people (4 people or more), events and parties etc. changes to the extraction cannot be made without the permission of Innovation Norway. The photographs must not be manipulated. The photographs must not be altered or reproduced in a manner that may damage the photographer's reputation.

Photographs that have been ordered can only be used in the production for which the order was placed. They must then be deleted. If the user wants to use the photographs in further productions, they must be re-ordered. Nor must the photographs be lent, sold, handed over or in any other way transferred to other parties.

In the case of missing or wrong photo credits, the user will be invoiced according to the individual photographer's current rates. If any of the other terms of use are ignored (i.e., with the exception of missing / incorrect credit), the user will be charged a fine of NOK 20,000. However, in the case where terms of use are ignored, and the photo credits are missing or wrong, the user will be charged both the fine of NOK 20,000 and in accordance to the current rates.

Innovation Norway shall be free to revoke right of use of the photographs and/or exclude the user from future use of the photo bank.




2.Guidelines for the use of films

All film clips can be downloaded and used freely in low-resolution format.

Film clips in high-resolution format and films can be downloaded and used in their original form for the purpose of marketing and sale of Norway as a tourism destination, or to create interest in, and build the reputation of Norway as a tourism destination and nation. This permission does not apply when the object concerns TV or cinema commercials.

The name of the Producer and Visitnorway.com must always be credited in the credits/kept on the film material when it is used.

Innovation Norway's approval is required in cases where the user/sender is a commercial player and the purpose is not to market Norway as a tourism destination. This applies both to the use of whole films and when someone wishes to use excerpts/clips from the films.Contact us to enquire about use.

The films cannot be cut or excerpts used or the soundtrack changed without the special permission of Innovation Norway. Innovation Norway will consider each request for use individually.

If the conditions for use of the film material are not complied with, Innovation Norway will invoice the amount that the user would have had to pay for corresponding use of film/film clips calculated on the basis of the ordinary market price. In addition, Innovation Norway will demand payment of a fine for the violation in the amount of twice the ordinary market price for corresponding use of film/film clips, but under no circumstances less than NOK 3,500 per clip for non-commercial use and NOK 10,000 per clip for use in a commercial context.

The person who orders the film material is responsible for ensuring that it is used in accordance with our guidelines, and that the information provided in the registration form about the use of the material is correct.

Innovation Norway shall be free to revoke the right of use of the film material and/or exclude the user from future use of the film bank.
